Meet Katy

A Maywood Park resident who knows how to navigate government and find resources.

About Katy

I’m a Maywood Park resident, environmental permitting professional, grant funding advocate, and community volunteer. I have more than two decades of experience working with local, state, and federal agencies to navigate complex permitting requirements, secure approvals, and identify funding opportunities for public projects.

I understand how government works, where funding opportunities exist, and how small communities can compete successfully for outside resources. I’m running for City Council because I believe Maywood Park deserves proactive leadership focused on bringing resources into our community, strengthening partnerships, and planning responsibly for the future.

Why I'm Running

I fell in love with Maywood Park because of its community. When I moved here three years ago, I was immediately drawn to the neighborhood events, the people who show up for one another, and the sense of connection that makes Maywood Park unlike anywhere else.

I didn’t wait to get involved. The moment I moved in, I started attending City Council meetings because I wanted to understand how our city worked and how I could contribute. I’ve continued showing up ever since.

I’ve also learned that getting involved doesn’t always mean getting the answer you hoped for. I applied for city appointments twice and was passed over both times. But I didn’t let that discourage me. I kept showing up, kept learning, and kept looking for ways to serve my community.

Now I’m running for City Council because I believe I bring something unique to the table: a genuine love for this community, a willingness to do the work, and more than two decades of experience navigating government agencies, permitting, funding, and complex projects. I know how to find resources, build partnerships, and turn ideas into action—and I want to put those skills to work for Maywood Park.

Maywood Park is a special community built on neighbor-to-neighbor relationships, beautiful green spaces, and residents who care deeply about where they live.

As one of Oregon’s smallest cities, we face unique challenges—but we also have opportunities.

I’m running because I believe we can accomplish more by actively pursuing grants, strengthening partnerships, and planning for the future while preserving what makes Maywood Park unique.

How I'll lead

I believe in proactive, practical, and collaborative leadership. I’ll listen to residents, ask hard questions, pursue resources, and work with partners to get things done. Most importantly, I’ll keep showing up for Maywood Park.
